Learning From The Edges
The world of work is full of friction. Departments work in silos. Work gets stuck. Teams find workplaces are not as easeful as they could or should be. And in all of this human beings are caught in the challenges, resulting in poor work, mental health worries and worse. As a research project, Learning From The Edges will look at the edges of work, where friction exists and explore what gets in the way of work and of learning. Why is there friction? How can work be more fruitful for organisations and people? What barriers do people have and what practical ways they can overcome those barriers? Learning From The Edges
Episode #10 Is Curiosity the Missing Ingredient for Growth? With guest Donna Ward-Higgs.
Do we need to look beyond Learning and Development being a training and compliance function of a business?
This week join Donna and Michelle diving into a feast of conversation to fire your brain.
With ideas such as the need for creating working cultures that think about the friction we have, as a catalyst for crafting better relationships which in turn impact performance, productivity and our day to day lives.
The episode poses powerful questions for us to consider;
By empowering people to challenge and ask questions in a positive and empathetic way, can we harness the power of curiosity, in order to explore the friction within work head on in a positive manner?
Could using conversation about friction in itself allow us to take advantage of the by-product of better relationships and working practices to be the fuel we need to move forward?
